Defect Inspection

Application:
This system is used for the automatic detection of airlines inside of tubes in the tube drawing procedure. Diameter of the airlines and their length are measured, the distribution of the
airlines is determined as well and is evaluated. A sorting signal is sent out to refuse faulty tubes. The statistic evaluation of the airlines is provided as well.

Structure: Some cameras as well as specific illumination units are situated around the tube. (Photo). Fast, industrial
controllers evaluate the camera signals and provide the measurement of the airline sizes.

Benefits: The inspection of the tube is made in an objective way, without influence of human errors. The inspection is made on-line and 100%. The selection of faulty tubes is reliable and based on constant standards. That way, complains are avoided at a maximum yield.

Length Measurement of Parison

Application: The instrument is used for rotating blowing machines, which are producing such items like table ware, laboratory glass or technical glass ware, for example lamp bulbs.

Tasks:The instrument is used for the non-contact measurement of the parison length before the mould is closed. The results are displayed graphically in an operator convinient manner. That way, the operator is able to check the machine at a glance. The setting after job change and its normal operation is supported essentially.

Structure: The instrument consists of the camera which is located beside of the blowing machine, the measuring computer and the industral PC which is used for the graphic display of the results as well as the data storage.

Benefits: On the screen of the PC, a number of displays can be seen. The most important one shows the average of the parison lengths (red line) as a function of the time. The standard deviation which has been calculated from the parison length of the different stations of one revolution are shown also. It is evident that it is the target of the operator, to keep the average constant and the standard deviation as small as possible. The operator can see which station is producing too short or too long parisons. By adjusting the blowing pressure of the related stations, he is a position to set the stations on the same level. That way, the blowing machine can be operated in a proper manner. Wall thickness is equalized, squeezed parisons are prevented. Waste is reduced.
